JACKETS AND COATS

Primary Purchase

1. Richmond Depot "type II" (Spring 1862-1865)

Material should be gray or brown jean wool or satinet.

Optional Purchases

2. Richmond Depot "type I" (Fall 1861-1862)

3. Richmond Depot "type III" (May 1863-1865)

4. Peter Tait jacket (1864-1865)

5. Frock coat (typically 1861-1862, although they were seen throughout the war)

6. Comutation jacket (1861-1862)

7. Over shirt (1861-1862)

TROUSERS

1. Confederate issue in jean wool or satinet.

2. Confederate issue in blue/gray kersey may be used after May 1863.


HEADGEAR
1. Slouch hat made of gray, brown, black, or tan wool or fur felt.

2. Kepi made from jean wool or satinet, gray or brown in color. Blue gray kersey may be used after May 1863.


SHIRTS
1.Civilian shirt, cotton or wool, typically a placket 4-button front.

2. Confederate issue.

3. Captured federal.

DRAWERS
1. Civilian type made from osnaburg, muslin, linen, etc.


LEATHER GEAR
1. Cartridge Box: Federal pattern 1839, or 1857; Richmond Arsenal model; or enfield pattern.

2.Cap Pouch: Federal pattern 1850, shield front; Richmond Arsenal model; enfield pattern.

3.Belt: Virginia state seal, georgia frame, roller buckle, or british snake buckle.

4.Bayonet Scabbard: Enfield, Gaylord pattern, or Richmond Arsenal model.

5.Shoes: Jefferson bootee, U.S. issue, or English import. Pegged or sewn soles.


OTHER GEAR
Haversack:  Confederate haversack from a documentable pattern (i.e. Moses Alexander or Bailey Bag),or tarred federal.

Canteen: Confederate tin or wooden drum. Federal model 1858 (Smoothside) or 1862 (Bullseye)

Blanket: Civilian, confederate, or federal.

Groundcloth: confederate oilcloth, federal gum blanket, or federal shelter half.

Knapsack (OPTIONAL): Kibbler, CS soft pack, or US double bag.

Tinwear: cup, eating utensils, etc. No stainless steel.

TOBACCO

Tobacco: Pipe, cigar, plug and twist chewing tobacco. No cigarettes.
